The two-year , established by the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and based at Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ (USG), is the nation’s first graduate program dedicated to the study of medical cannabis. The program blends online instruction with face-to-face experiences, providing knowledge to support patients and the medical cannabis industry, add to research, and develop well-informed medical cannabis policy.

The program provides education in basic science, including pharmacology, chemistry and medical cannabis delivery systems; clinical uses, including pathophysiology, assessment and management of conditions that may be treated by medical cannabis; adverse effects and public health considerations; and federal and state laws and policies.

Students take five foundational courses in medical cannabis science, therapeutics and policy, choose three electives, and complete research methods and a capstone comprising expert seminars, case studies and discussions. Coursework accommodates students with and without a background in science or medicine.

Online coursework offers flexibility; however, students are required to travel to USG once each semester for in-person symposia that provide opportunities to network with peers and interact with experts in medical cannabis science, therapeutics and policy.
