The Minor in Criminal Justice is open to students enrolled in UMD undergraduate programs at Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ (USG), other than Criminology and Criminal Justice majors. The minor explores the strengths and weaknesses of the criminal justice system in the U.S., focusing specifically on police, courts and corrections.

The 18-credit minor includes introductory coursework in criminology and criminal justice, required courses focused on the criminal justice system, and upper-level electives. Coursework also explores topics such as forensics, homeland security, elder abuse and human trafficking.

Everyone, regardless of major, interacts with the criminal justice system. The minor provides students with a more cohesive introduction to criminal justice-related topics and greater access to CCJS coursework. Students can connect criminal justice concepts to their primary program of study, become better-educated and well-rounded members of their communities, and broaden the knowledge and skills they bring to potential employers.
